Kappad beach is situated on the western coast of India in the Kozhikode district of the Kerala state. It has great historical significance because Portuguese sailor Vasco Da Gama landed here on May 20, 1498. This place became permanent route to arrival from Europe to India. It is well known for its spices and wealth of Malabar Coast. This place first brought the Phoenicans, the Arabs, the Romans, the Greeks, the Portuguese, the English and the Dutch to Kerala. It was the important sea route between Indian and rest of world in ancient times. It has witnessed many landings and ruled by Zamorins in the past. The beach is also well known for its Ayurvedic treatments. Tourists can found many Ayurvedic centers here which offer Ayurvedic massages as well as herbal treatments.

This virgin beach is famous for its crystal clear water, milky sandy shore and fringed palm groves. Tourists can do here many activities like walk along shoreline or wet their feet in the crystal clear water. This pleasant and calm beach is also known as Kappakadavu and is studded with rocks. Monsoon receives frequent spells of rain and thunderstorms can be expected during this season. Winter here is cool and temperature varies from 20 to 30 centigrade.

By rail – Kozhikode is nearest railway station to reach the beach town by train at a distance of 16 kilometers. Kozhikode is important railway station on the Malabar coast and well connected by regular trains with other part of the country.
By air – Karipur international airport is nearest airport to reach the place by flight at a distance of 23 kilometers. Karipur international airport is well connected by regular flights with domestic as well as international cities.
